There are three gardens surrounding the Carnegie Library building
The rear garden
This was restored following the excavation work to develop the gym in 2017/18. This area is open to all users of the building and is shared with the residents of the four apartments in the building.
CCT volunteers look after this garden and we welcome all offers of help – cutting the grass, weeding, tidying, and just enjoying the space.
Perimeter on Haredale Road side of the building
The Friends of Carnegie Library look after this garden, which includes half of the front section.
Perimeter on Ferndene Road side of the building
This section of the garden, including the opposite half of the front garden was the most damaged by the excavation of the gym development in 2017/18. It is gradually being improved by CCT volunteers, clearing, pruning, weeding, planting. We are developing plans to formally restore the original beds in this area, with the help of grant funding.
- If you have spare plants we can use these in the beds at Carnegie. If you have spare time and would like to use it outdoors – we can use your help – please get in touch.
